Fighting for Working Families

Alberta Griffin is no stranger to hard work. Both her parents worked at the Uniroyal Tire Factory until it closed. They started taking on multiple jobs to support the family, and Alberta helped out by peeling potatoes at the restaurant down the street beginning at 12.

Alberta wants to fight to protect the Great Lakes and our drinking water by supporting families instead of big corporate interests. Alberta believes we should hold polluters accountable, advocate for the maintenance of Line 5, and demand safeguards that protect our communities and kids.

Alberta Griffin has devoted herself to the health and well-being of those in her community. A long time resident of Kalamazoo County, Alberta has worked hard to raise her three school-aged children while serving as Founder and President of her own company, AGS Data Analytics Consulting. Always looking for more ways to be involved, she took it upon herself to serve at the State of Michigan on the Infant Mortality Reduction Plan and serve as Head Start Nutritionist and WIC Program Coordinator early in her career. Alberta is also an instructor and Thurgood Marshall Doctoral Fellow at Western Michigan University. Alberta Griffin has always been committed to working across the aisle to get things done for our community.

Alberta Griffin is a mom,  a small business owner, and a problem solver who is fighting for common sense solutions.

Safe Roads and Bridges
Not only has Alberta done the work — she’s lived it too. As a small business owner who drives our roads every day, Alberta knows we work too hard to have our vehicles broken by shoddy roads. Alberta wants to improve the daily lives of Kalamazoo families, and that starts with the infrastructure we all depend on.

Education Funding
Alberta has worked in the health, education, and economic development fields. As a small business owner, she knows we must get serious about creating good jobs and that we can start by making smart investments in education. As a lifelong learner who is pursuing a PhD at Western Michigan University, Alberta believes in making college more affordable and advocating to expand skilled trades training and apprenticeship programs.

Alberta believes in:

  • Holding pharmaceutical companies accountable for price gouging
  • Providing access to healthcare and health services for women
  • Demanding safeguards that protect our children and communities
  • Strengthening our drinking water infrastructure
